Alumna Asks Amherst Circuit Court to Order Sweet Briar College to Remain Open

Posted: Apr 06, 2015 9:20 PM ISTAmherst, VA - An alumna of Sweet Briar College has now filed a motion in Amherst County Circuit Court asking the judge to order the school to continue classes through the next school year.

Jessica Campbell's motion says the school has enough money in its endowment to fund a restructuring of the women's school model or even go co-ed if needed.

Campbell is asking for a hearing on the motion within eight days.

She's asking for a preliminary injunction, and wants it heard quickly, before students and faculty make final decisions on their future, making it impossible to stay open.
