Sweet Work Weeks - July 31 - August 18!! Join Us!!

Please join us on campus for the third annual Sweet Work Weeks between July 31 and August 18!  We are looking forward to welcoming home alumnae and friends from all over the country who want to help with projects for the beautification, maintenance, and administrative functions at Sweet Briar.  You can come for any amount of time you have to share - hours, days, or even weeks!

President Meredith Woo has made residence hall improvement for our students a special initiative and top priority for this summer.  The College has started refreshing the residences with new flooring, and President Woo has asked faculty and staff to join alumnae and other volunteers during Sweet Work Weeks to help paint the six residences that students will use during the upcoming year.  We are very excited that this joint volunteer effort will put into practice President Woo’s principle of "One Sweet Briar," everyone working together to support the shared goal of advancing the College.

The residence hall painting blitz will take place between July 31 and August 10.  If you are not a fan of that fresh-paint smell, we would appreciate your help with a variety of other indoor and outdoor projects which have been identified around campus.

When you volunteer for Sweet Work Weeks, you get to put your hands to work giving back to the College you love, get to know some amazing alumnae and other volunteers, stay in the residence halls, and enjoy your down-time in the incomparable beauty of Sweet Briar’s campus.  Please sign up here to join us during Sweet Work Weeks and know that you will be making a meaningful and appreciated contribution to the entire Sweet Briar community.

With gratitude,

Priscilla Newton Carroll '87
Director of Alumnae Relations

Dear fellow alumnae,

Over the next few weeks, we will be having a number of activities to celebrate President Phillip C. Stone's leadership and legacy. The first of many will be the upcoming Food Truck Festival on Saturday, April 22 from noon to 2pm in the Quad. If you want to attend, we'd love to see you on campus!

We will also be toasting President Stone and Mrs. Stone during Reunion on Saturday, June 3 at the Gala. So please make your plans to come to the all-class Reunion to give him an exciting and memorable sendoff. Register at sbc.edu/reunion.

Gratefully,

Class of '72 News Is Due By January 30th! - Don't Forget . . .This Is Our 45th Reunion Year!

SBC News is Due . . . Again (Reunion Year!)

No doubt you are groaning as you read this.

Just think of the noise MarySue and I are making. It sounds like “#%(%*&^@&%”!

Since this is our Reunion Year – the 45th, we should probably do our best

to contribute.

Maybe it would be good to do a life recap, (sounds like fun, right?!)

so we’ll all know about each other as we begin ordering all our

pink and green clothes for the event!

(We WILL see you, won’t we? After all, we have much to celebrate.)

Some details:

Ä  Please get your Notes into us ASAP. (I hate that acronym!  How about ‘As Soon As HUMANLY Possible – ASAHP!)  We have to put this to bed on 1/30.

Ä  Pictures (jpg’s) are fine and encouraged.  They should be group, not solo, and must be high quality -- the largest file possible.  They MUST contain a caption.

{  Please note that we send ALL pictures we receive to SBC.  They make the final selections, presumably based on file integrity and quality.

{  (We did have some great ones last time that weren’t published, and we cannot tell you why.)

Ä  Write in third person and incorporate all your info into one paragraph.  Include both Maiden and Married names, along with spouse’s name.  Please use complete sentences – it makes editing so much easier.

Ä  You can email directly to MarySue or Jill or you can utilize SBC’s online portal to submit your notes:

Ä  Remember, we need your exciting information by January 30th.

Many thanks in advance for prompt responses!!

Very best,

Jill and MarySue
