Attorney seeks court order to prevent Sweet Briar College from destroying documents

After writing the college March
20 and requesting no records be destroyed, Bowyer said she had received
tips shredding still was taking place and could endanger crucial
evidence in court proceedings. She said Friday afternoon lawyers for the
college assured her shredding machines had been removed and the issue
appears resolved.
Bowyer said her hope is there
will be no more reports of shredding and if that’s the case, she plans
to withdraw her motion for temporary injunction later this month.
Meanwhile, a hearing on Bowyer’s suit against the college has been set for 10 a.m. April 14 in Bedford County Circuit Court.
Judge James W. Updike Jr., the
presiding judge in Bedford, which is within the same judicial district
as Amherst County, will hear the plaintiff’s complaint, according to a
court notice Bowyer received Friday.
