How did I not know that Sweet Briar owns 1 of 4 original first copies of the Declaration of Independence? Great information coming forth.
Just to clarify: Jay Orsi (above) is referring to the fact that Sweet Briar College owns one of 201 known vellum copies of the Declaration of Independence. John Quincy Adams, when Secretary of State, commissioned William Stone to make copies, which were reproduced via copperplate engraving in 1823.
